The 2nd annual Teutopolis Witches Walk was held on October 20.
The event attracted 511 witches.
The committee’s main goal for the walk was to provide a fun night for the ladies of the community, and yet, $8,000 was raised for Community Support Systems.
The walk began at the Teutopolis Banquet Hall, where DJ Vince Higgs played fun and upbeat music. The colorful Roch Westendorf, also known as Beetle Juice, entertained and directed the witches. An elaborate photo setting was set up by Rick and Jean Cornell that provided many photo places for the witches to pose.
The witches then moved on to the challenges at Ping’s, Kenter’s and Brickbat. The committee members that set up these challenges worked very hard coming up with fun things to entertain the witches.
The challenge at Brickbat had a mad scientist theme, with a life size operation game and slimy skull find. At Kenter’s, the entertainment had multiple options from marshmallow throw, handling unexpected items or searching for things from not very pleasant containers. At Ping’s, the witches had to spin the wheel to find out what they needed to do, possibly the plunger toss or specialty challenge.
Then many of the witches returned to the Teutopolis Banquet Hall for food and Judging. Prizes were awarded for three categories – best hat, best costume and best group.
Food was provided by CSS employees who served nachos and pretzels. Hot dogs and brats were grilled by The Dog. The Kountry Kitchen also sold bowls of soup in the parking lot.
The Witches Walk Committee would like to thank all the establishments for their generous donations. We would also thank our friends and family members who helped at each challenge. Without them we would not be able to provide all the entertainment and host this event.
Thanks to all who participated, donated and helped make the 2017 Witches Walk a fun and memorable event.
Next year’s Witches Walk has been set for October 19, 2018.
Witches Walk Committee members are Jodie Pruemer, Ruth Dust, Roxy Apke, Jill Buhnerkempe, Jean and Rick Cornell, Megan Probst, Kelly Schmidt, Angie Bloemer, Wanda Ruholl, Diana Althoff and Mert Ruholl.
