If you hear a lot of emergency sirens after 10 a.m. on Tuesday in Dieterich, there is no reason to push the panic button.

All those sirens that morning will signal the start of a mock crash demonstration at the Dieterich schools campus. Emergency responders from Dieterich, Montrose, Teutopolis fire protection districts, Effingham County Sheriff’s Department, Abbott Ambulance and an emergency Air Vac helicopter will arrive on the scene portraying a major vehicle crash.

Young people will be portraying roles during the activity.

The purpose of the mock crash is to emphasize the need for responsible and undistracted driving.

In case of rainfall, the demonstration will take place on Thursday, May 3.
