Effingham Police Department reported the following traffic crashes with injuries or tickets issued. Anyone ticketed is innocent until proven guilty through a court of law.

A vehicle, driven by James R. Prather, 48, of Mason, struck a vehicle, driven by Liam M. Hammer, 16, Effingham, at 8:57 a.m., on Oct. 6, at Jaycee Avenue and Banker Street. Prather was ticketed for driving while license suspended.

At 7:40 a.m. on Oct. 3, a vehicle, driven by Bette J. Newlin, 65, Effingham, pulled into the path of and was struck by a vehicle, driven by Vanessa L. McKee, 35, Shumway, at Raney Street and Wernsing Avenue. Both drivers were injured and taken by ambulance for treatment at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. Newlin was ticketed for failure to yield.

A vehicle, driven by Doris E. Jones, 84, Effingham, pulled into the path of and was struck by a vehicle, driven by Luke R. Zumbahlen, 33, Newton, at 5:06 p.m. Oct. 2 at Temple and Merchant. The impact caused Jones’ vehicle to strike a vehicle, driven by Karen A. Hoene, 61, Effingham. Jones was injured but refused treatment at the accident scene. Jones was ticketed for failure to yield.

At 5:06 p.m. on Oct. 2, a motorcycle, operated by Quentin B. D. Roley, 38, Stewardson, was traveling in the turn lane at 200 S. Henrietta and lost control due to motor oil in the roadway. The oil came from a disabled semi truck in the lane. Roley was injured but refused treatment at the scene.
