The Effingham Police Bureau of Patrol reported the following traffic crashes with injuries or tickets issued. Anyone ticketed is innocent until proven guilty through a court of law.

At 8:38 a.m. on Oct. 25, a vehicle, driven by Cecelia M. Walls, 19, of Effingham, struck a vehicle, driven by Tonia M. Harris, 38, Edgewood, at Merchant Street and Virginia Avenue. Walls was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, Harris was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

A vehicle, driven by Collin H. Funneman, 18, Teutopolis, turned in front of and was struck by a vehicle, driven by Nancy E. Haslett, 62, St. Elmo, at 6:58 a.m. Oct. 24 at Fayette and Maple. Haslett was injured and taken by ambulance for treatment at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital.

At 3:39 p.m. Oct. 23, a vehicle, driven by Jada M. Suckow, 17, Altamont, struck a vehicle, driven by Chaleana M. Norton, 37, Sullivan, at Fayette and Henrietta. Norton and two passengers, Sofia E. R. Hammel, 6, and Keeliana M. Norton, 11, both from Sullivan, were injured. Chaleana and Keeliana Norton were injured but both refused treatment. Hammel was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment.

At 3:57 p.m. on Oct. 23, a vehicle, driven by Carl D. Stevenson, 77, Independence, Missouri, collided with a vehicle, driven by Marilyn J. Barcus, 75, Effingham, at U.S. Route 40 and Outer Belt West. A passenger of Stevenson, Janet Stevenson, 73, also of Independence, was injured and taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment. Carl Stevenson was ticketed for failure to yield.

A vehicle, driven by Tharin L. Harris, 20, Louisville, rear-ended a vehicle, driven by Michael J. Antonich, 50, Effingham, at 4:43 p.m. at Fayette and I-57 northbound/1-70 eastbound ramp. Antonich was injured and taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s for treatment.
