Effingham Police Department reported the following traffic crashes with injuries or tickets issued. Anyone ticketed to innocent until proven guilty through a court of law.

At 12:50 p.m. on Oct. 12, a vehicle, driven by Joan J. McCoy, 79, Effingham, struck a vehicle, driven by Kari L. Calmae, 31, Beecher City, west of the intersection of Fayette Avenue and Henrietta Street. McCoy was ticketed for failure to yield.

Alec W. Finley, 21, Effingham, lost control of a vehicle, and left the roadway at 10:09 p.m., Oct. 9, striking and damaging mailboxes at 2407 Veterans Drive.  Finley then overcorrected and traveled back across the roadway into the opposite ditch, hit the embankment and overturned. A passenger with Finely, Luke A. Rieman, 22, Effingham, was injured and taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment.
