Effingham Police Department Bureau of Patrol reported the following traffic crashes with injuries or tickets issued. Anyone ticketed is innocent until proven guilty through a court of law.

At 12:43 p.m. on June 25, a vehicle, driven by Linda J. Lidy, 69, of Wheeler, pulled into the path of and struck by a vehicle, driven by Gabrielle E. Miller, 18, Effingham, north of Henrietta Street and Fayette Avenue. Lidy was ticketed for failure to yield.

At 1:42 p.m., June 24, a vehicle, driven by Amanda E. Levy, 34, Palestine, rolled from a parking spot and struck a vehicle, owned by Elizabeth A. Rance, 40, Effingham, which was parked by the Mach 1 fuel pumps, located at 2911 S. Banker St. Levy was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

A vehicle, driven by Ashley N. Haarmann, 31, Effingham, left the roadway at Banker Street and Wabash Avenue at 8:49 p.m., June 22, and struck and damaged an Ameren Illinois light pole. Haarmann was ticketed for Driving Under the Influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

At 6:47 p.m., June 22, a vehicle, driven by Joshua A. Germer, 33, Effingham, hydroplaned and left the roadway, struck a dirt pile and damaged grass and landscaping, owned by Dan Hecht Chevrolet Toyota, at Hoffman and Banker. Germer was ticketed for Driving Too Fast for Conditions.

A vehicle, driven by Jerry L. Frailey, 77, Beecher City, collided with a vehicle, driven by Janet L. Keyes, 57, Brownstown, at 8:25 a.m., June 20, at Fayette and Banker. Keyes and a passenger, Karson Brown, 10 months old, Edgewood, were injured and taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment. Frailey was ticketed for failure to yield.

At 10:51 p.m., June 16, a vehicle, driven by William G. Pawlaczyk, 81, Ellenboro, North Carolina, struck a vehicle, driven by Ryan E. Huntley, 29, Altamont. Pawlaczyk was ticketed for failure to yield.

At 10:38 p.m. June 9, a vehicle, driven by Douglas L. Hites, 67, of Edgewood, turned into the path of and  struck by a vehicle, driven by Dustin B. Strader, 37, Toledo, at Banker and Eiche. A passenger in Strader’s vehicle, Nikki Strader, 45, Toledo, was injured and taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment. Hites was ticketed for failure to yield.

A vehicle, driven by Xavier N. Jordan, 16, Watson, turned into the path of and collided with a motorcycle, operated by Barry L. Parnell, 64, Effingham, at 10:14 p.m., June 8, at Fayette and Henrietta. Parnell was injured and taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Memorial for treatment. Jordan was ticketed for failure to yield.

At 12:46 p.m., June 3, a vehicle, driven by James T. Hutchinson, 27, Effingham, backed into Danny L. Tolliver, 18, Beecher City, at Effingham Express Carwash, 1714 S. Banker. Tolliver was injured and taken by private vehicle to St. Anthony’s Memorial for treatment.

A vehicle, driven by Kenneth P. Cannon, 26, Olney, pulled into the path of and was struck by a vehicle, driven by Corban D. Matney, 52, Effingham, at 4:06 p.m., June 4, at 1600 Ford Ave. Matney and a passenger, Dawnette Rhodes, 47, Effingham, were both injured and taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s for treatment. Cannon was ticketed for failure to yield.

At 5:05 p.m., June 2, a vehicle, driven by Sandra L. McCoy, 69, of Vernon, rear-ended a vehicle, driven by Thomas A. Hegwood, 75, Milwaukee, at the Effingham Walmart. McCoy was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

At 12:07 p.m. on June 1, a vehicle, driven by Charles R. Westendorf, 16, Effingham, collided with a vehicle, driven by Robert D. Lueken, 44, Effingham, at Jefferson Avenue and Second Street. Westendorf was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device.

A vehicle, driven by Becky A. Hoopingarner, 35, Watson, rear-ended a vehicle, driven by Cinda A. Hulskotter, 51, Effingham, at 4:43 p.m., May 31, at Outer Belt West and U.S. Route 40.  Hoopingarner was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

At 1:37 p.m., May 30, a vehicle, driven by Joshua D. Tohtz, 35, St. Charles, Missouri, attempted to avoid a rear-end accident and pulled into the path of and was struck by a vehicle, driven by Heather M. Demma, 28, Willow Hill, at Willow and Pembroke. Demma’s passenger, Laura L. Jayne, 54, Willow Hill, was injured and taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s for treatment. Tohtz was ticketed for improper lane usage.
