Effingham Police Department Bureau of Patrol reported the following traffic crashes with injuries or tickets issued. Anyone ticketed is innocent until proven guilty through a court of law.
At 12:48 p.m. on May 24, a vehicle, driven by Mikayla F. Campbell, 20, of Altamont, rear-ended a vehicle, driven by Hayley R. Young, 33, Effingham, at Temple Avenue and Keller Drive. Campbell was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
At 9:05 a.m. May 25, a vehicle, driven by Ladora J. Duff, 39, Louisville, sideswiped a vehicle, driven by Douglas A. Probst, 51, Watson, at Fayette and Willow. Duff was ticketed for improper lane usage.
A motorcycle, operated by Ricky J. Burns, 57, Oblong, lost control and laid over while Burns was attempting to negotiate a turn at 1:39 a.m., May 27, at Merchant and Evergreen. Burns was ticketed for Driving Under the Influence.
At 7:14 a.m., May 16, a vehicle, driven by Matthew D. Passarello, 27, Sandy Springs, Georgia, pulled into the path and struck a vehicle, driven by semi truck, driven by Muhamet E. Kajti, 68, Macomb, Michigan, at Keller and Evergreen. Passarello was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device.
A vehicle, driven by Veronica M. Ochs, 18, Newton, pulled into the path and struck a vehicle, driven by Barbara L. Strader, 55, Effingham, at 3:10 p.m., May 15. At Temple and Henrietta. Ochs was injured and taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment. A passenger in Strader’s vehicle, Colby M. Strader, 29, Effingham, also suffered injuries but refused treatment at the accident scene. Ochs was ticketed for failure to yield.
