The Board of Directors of the Arts Connection of Central Illinois, a not-for-profit corporation d/b/a the Effingham Performance Center, is pleased to announce plans to award a $1,000 Performing Arts Scholarship to a graduating high school senior from Effingham County that plans to pursue music, theater or dance studies in college.

The board approved this at its November meeting.

The Board would also like to expand the Summer Youth Program and offer additional programs through the year to encourage an appreciation and interest in the Performing Arts by the youth of our county.

A donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, will match the first $1,000 donated to this fund by December 31. As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, all donations made are tax deductible.

Consistent with the business model of other similar not-for-profit organizations, the EPC also must rely, in part, on the giving of people and businesses in order to maintain the quality of shows and to offer them at reasonable ticket prices.

As Rich Jorn, the CEO of the EPC indicated, “We depend on people like you for our continued existence.”

Further details on the Scholarship and Youth Program Fund can be obtained by contacting Sarah Rueter at the EPC at 217-540-2788 (Ext. 233) or email at

The first scholarship will be awarded in May 2018. It is hoped, that with the assistance of the community, additional Performing Arts Scholarships can be awarded on a yearly basis.
