Civil War Ball

Ulysses S. Grant and Julia Dent Grant will attend the Civil War Ball again this year. Scott and Peggy Whitney will portray the former president and his wife.

The 1872 Celebration & Civil War Era Grand Ball is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Effingham County Museum.
Events are scheduled throughout the day.
10:30-11:30 a.m. – There will be a lecture by Phil Lewis – “Hiram Ulysses Grant and the 2nd Empire Architectural Style.” This will be on the first floor at no charge.
1-1:45 p.m. – Walk Through Time – Godey’s Magazine Display. This will be on the second floor at no charge.
3-4 p.m. – Concert by singer-songwriter Chris Vallillo. This will be on the second floor and there is a charge of $15 per ticket.
4:15-5:15 p.m. – General Logan impersonation. This will be on the first floor at no charge.
6:30-7:05 p.m. – Music by the FACE orchestra. It will include “Hail Columbia” with the vocal solo by Larry Lappin and accompanied by the FACE orchestra.
7:05 -7:15 p.m. – Address by President Ulysses S. Grant.
7:30-10 p.m. – Costumed Grand Ball, with music by the Salt Creek Band. Non-costumed guests will be allowed to dance after several rounds.
Light period refreshments will be served.
Tickets are $30 for the evening activities, including the Grand Ball. Tickets for the Vallillo concert and the evening activities are $40.
