St. Anthony girls thump CHBC

The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs continue to dominate the National Trail Conference.

The Lady Bulldogs notched their fourth league win with a dominating 55-21 victory at home over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

St. Anthony led 11-2 after eight minutes and then exploded. The Lady Bulldogs went on a 29-9 scoring spree over the next two quarters to build a comfortable 40-11 advantage.

St. Anthony had a balanced scoring attack. Abby Weis led the way with 13 points, while Abbie Schmidt scored 10 and Olivia Clausius added nine. Schmidt also had seven rebounds and Clare McHugh handed out four assists.

The win gave the Lady Bulldogs a 4-0 record in the NTC and 8-3 overall.

CHBC won the junior varsity game, 35-33. The Lady Bulldogs led 29-26, but were outscored 9-4 in the fourth period. Shea Kinkelaar led St. Anthony with 13 points and Maryann Saba added eight.
