St. Anthony High School Principal Greg Fearday is excited to announce that high school student, Abby Buenker, was selected for the prestigious honor of performing at the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-State Band Festival.
This is not the first time Buenker has been chosen for the ensemble.
“To be selected for one of the ILMEA All-State ensembles is a huge accomplishment and honor,” said Christy Cyrus, Director of Bands. “To be selected to represent St. Anthony High School means Abby is one of the top high school clarinetists in the state. The entire band is extremely proud of her.”
In order to be considered for the ensemble, the student must prepare an audition that includes scales, two etudes, and sight reading.
Buenker will be representing the St. Anthony High School Band in Peoria on January 26-28. The conference will begin with an opening night concert on Wednesday, Jan. 25. It will follow with three full days of performances by local band representatives from all over Illinois.
